    Florence 1919, maybe 1920. In those years, Count Camillo Negroni used to be at the aristocratic Caffè Casoni. One day he wanted something a little bit stronger than his usual Americano. So he asked the barman Fosco Scarselli to add into the drink a little bit of Gin rather than soda, in memory of his recent trips to London.This new cocktail became “The usual” for the Count but soon this became for everybody else the “American aperitif Count Negroni-style’. In the Fifties the cocktails became very popular in Italy and, soon, also all over the world.alo Ian Fleming cited the Negroni Cocktail in one of the episode of his famous saga James Bond.

    The original cocktail was created at the end of XIX century, during the war between The United State and the Spain. They say that after the shipwreck of the ship Main, one of the Marines reached a little village near Santiago de Cuba, called Daiquiri. There, he entered entered a sort of shack used as a bar to quench his thirst.Because he refused to drink plain rhum, they added lime juice and he complet the mix with a little bit of sugar.     Manhattan is a cocktail that has been in the spotlight since its inception: legend has it that it was created around 1870 at the "Manhattan Club" in New York by Iain Marshall on the occasion of the reception organized by Jennie Jerome (or Lady Randolph Churchill, mother of Winston Churchill) in honor of presidential candidate Samuel J. Tilden. His success made the drink very fashionable and led people to ask, referring to the bar where it was created, the "Manhattan" precisely.     Milano Torino is a controversial cocktail: no one really knows when it was created, but one of the most popular versions is that it was invented to celebrate the birth of the A4 motorway in 1932, although it is more likely that it was created with the advent of the great Italian school of mixing. At the beginning of the so-called "Short Century" there were few liqueurs available in the bars: the most famous were certainly the Vermouth of Turin and the Campari of Milan. Joining the two was then obtained the Milano Torino, prepared directly in the glass, with the addition of an orange zest.

    Created in the early 1990s by Julio Bermejo, this cocktail takes its name from the family restaurant-bar in San Francisco, self-proclaimed "the best tequila bar on earth".     Gimlet cocktail is composed by gin and lime juice. A 1928 quotes says “gin, a hint of lemon and soda”. Raymond Chandler in his 1953 novel  “ The Long Goodbye” described it by writing “a real gimlet is half gin and half lime juice and nothing else”. This statement is in line with the proportions suggested by the "Savoy Cocktail Book" of 1930.The origin of the name is confused: the most popular refers to the Surgeon Admiral Sir Thomas Gimlette who is said to have been the first to have added lime juice to the daily gin of his men of the Royal Navy to help them fight the damage of scurvy (disease due to vitamin C deficiency) during long ocean crossings.

    It is believed that the whiskey sour was created by the Englishman Elliott Stubb who, having landed in the port of Iquique (at the time belonging to the State of Peru) in the year 1872, opened a bar and experimenting with different aperitifs came to mix the native "limon de pica "with Whiskey and sugar, creating a perfect mix between the Anglo-Saxon style and the South American fruit.     Iconically pink, the Cosmopolitan was born at the hands of Cheryl Cook, bartender and owner of The Strand in Miami. His words describe the birth of the drink better than anyone else: "It was about 1985; Martini was making a comeback, with its classic glass. The women didn't seem to like cocktails very much but liked to be seen with the martini glass in hand. This gave me the idea of ​​creating a cocktail that would appeal to anyone and fit in this classic glass".
