DinnerLe origini del cocktail risalgono alla fine del XIX secolo, al tempo della guerra tra Stati Uniti e Spagna: secondo alcune fonti dopo il naufragio della nave Main – nel porto dell’Avana – un marine giunse in un piccolo villaggio vicino a Santiago de Cuba, specificatamente a Daiquiri. Qui, per placare la sua sete, entrò in una sorta di baracca adibita a bar.
Dopo aver rifiutato di bere rhum liscio, ottenne un’aggiunta di succo di lime che aggiustò con dello zucchero. AppetizerThe Sour is one of the oldest cocktails around. Probably it is the starting point of the mixology. Jerry Thomas was the first one to write it down. The original sour cocktail recipe is based on a simple equilibrium: a sweet part (usually sugar syrup), a more bitter part given by lime or lemon juice and of course a distillate that gives character to the mix.The most used spirits are usually rhum (Daiquiri), bourbon, vodka and gin. AppetizerSi ritiene che il whisky sour sia stato creato dall'Inglese Elliott Stubb che, sbarcato nel porto di Iquique (al tempo appartenente allo Stato del Peru) nell'anno 1872, aprì un bar e sperimentando diversi aperitivi arrivò a miscelare l'autoctono "limon de pica" con Whisky e zucchero, creando un perfetto mix tra lo stile anglosassone e il frutto sudamericano.
In realtà questo cocktail viene già citato nel famoso libro di Jerry Thomas del 1862 "How to Mix Drinks: The Bon-vivant's Companion", anche se con una ricetta leggermente diversa.
